The car began racing in 1953 in Australia, at the Templestow Hillclimb that year the original owner set a new class record. He then drove the Allard to tenth place in the Australian Grand Prix and third place for the Albert Park Trophy. The car changed hands in Australia several times over the years but remained in competition for many of its owners. Its last competition in Australia was the Collingrove historic Hillclimb in 1978. Since 1996 has been raced regularly in California at the Monterey Historics.
Powered by a flat-head Mercury, V-8 engine that is fitted with three Stromberg 97 carburetors, Offenhauser heads, and an Iskandarian cam, the engine displaces 4.1 litres and produces over 160 horsepower.
